Barn Plans From 1923
Barn-Plans.net This barn plan site was built from part of a 1923 catalog published by one of the two large farm equipment businesses active at the time.
The material is surprisingly informative because the buildings were designed for the mixed use farms of those days. The kind of building and the environment concerns are very much in tune with hobby or survivalist farmers of modern times.
For example, there is a discussion of how sensitive pigs are to ultraviolet light and extremes of temperature. Their plans consider how to best use solar gain to make sure the pigs stay warm and comfortable. I didn’t expect to read that in a 1923 publication.
