Gifts For Mom
GiftsForMom.org sounded good, which is why I registered it. The dot com was already taken, but like so many good domains these days, it is being used for a worthless parking page. For those of you who don’t know, “Parking Pages” are pages with nothing but advertising links on them. It used to be a profitable way to make money, but these days the search engines de-index them quickly and they don’t do as well.
When I registered the name I expected to see there would be a lot of activity related to Mother’s Day. There is some of that, but there is a lot more activity related to Christmas. That was a surprise.
When I ran the search in Oct. I found:
Gifts for mom 14,000 searches per month
Birthday gifts for mom 2,900
Unique gifts for mom 720
Christmas gifts for mom 4,400
Personalized gifts for mom 480
There are other categories that also get respectable traffic. I am sure the counts change depending on the time of the year too.
I see several ideas for products in the results. For example, I would not have thought about it, but a site which specializes in personalized gifts for mom might do well. With advances in technology it should not be that hard to build a website which lets customers enter personal information which can be engraved on a metal (silver?) product and sent directly to mom.
