about-auctions.com was the first website I ever bought. I paid $150 and figured I could increase that over time. That really hasn’t happened. It paid for itself, but I didn’t realize at the time I bought it the seller was an expert in all the techniques used at the time to improve rankings. None of them were “Black Hat” or anything, it’s just that as more and more people used them they became less effective. For example, he was doing article marketing years before it became popular.
I have tried at various times to redo the content. However, given the subject of the site it requires continual work to keep it up to date with changes in auction procedures, policies, and marketing. The size of the auction website market has gotten so large there are lots of large, well funded, players active now. That makes competition for rankings much higher.
Since the domain was first registered in April, 2002 and has always had an active auction website published on it, it would not be difficult for an active auctioneer to increase traffic. I am probably not the person to do that. Contact us if you are.
